In PJ, addresses are unusually formal. The town is split into numbered sectors (seksyen), which are abbreviated as simply S (eastern PJ), SS (central and western), PJU (northern), and PJS (post-Joseph) to further complicate matters (southern). The name Damansara also applies to the northern portion. The letters "SS" stand for "Subang-Sungei Way," and just to keep you guessing, sections SS 12 through 19 and PJS were formerly a part of Petaling Jaya until being transferred to Subang Jaya, a new neighbourhood metropolis that covers the western half of Kuala Lumpur.
